Rally of Derbyshire – 17/18 February 2024

Foreword

A warm welcome to Matlock Motor Club’s 47th Rally of Derbyshire. Our sincere thanks go to Steve and his team at Global Brands Ltd for their continued sponsorship and enthusiastic support of the event.

The organising team are putting together as usual a no-nonsense road rally. We hope you will put this date in your diary for 2024 – whether as a competitor or marshal.

The format will be similar to previous well supported and successful events, with the main differences being it will be pre-plot and not use any really rough whites (at least not for more than a few yards!).

The 100-mile road rally will be using some of the finest lanes in Derbyshire. The start and finish venue (with food and drinks available) is The Great British Car Journey at Ambergate (DE56 2HE). The route contains c.2 miles of unsurfaced whites following a straight-forward, no-tricks pre-plot navigation format. Running under a Road Rally Permit, there will be several sections timed to the second and, whilst not essential, we recommend you fit a sump guard. There will be a petrol “splash and dash” after c.70 miles.

This year’s event will be a round of several Regional Association Championships and the maximum entry is 50.

As always, we need plenty of marshals so please encourage your family and friends to turn out – we will provide goody bags with drinks and snacks. No experience is required, just your interest and enthusiasm. This is an excellent opportunity to get into motorsport for a keen novice.

We are again raising funds for the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance and will be making a substantial donation to this worthy cause.
